Summer Aerospace Program 2009 Print E-mail

This course is intended for undergraduate students primarily for the GEA partner universities. It will provide the students with an overall knowledge of aeronautics and space fundamentals, as viewed from a European point of view.
The contents include scientific and technical courses , but also general conferences and visits to aeronautical and historical sites.
The program is tailored for undergraduate students in aviation/Aerospace, Juniors or Seniors who have a solid background knowledge in aeronautics and/or space sciences. A good background in general sciences is expected. Graduate students can also take part in the course on a case-by-case basis.

Program Information:

90 class sessions, plus an equivalent of 30 more sessions for technical/cultural visits including the field trip to Paris and the Basque Country.

Approximately 100 hours of lecturing / tutored work / site visits. All courses are compulsory.

A comprehensive 6-week program including :

* An average 15-20 hours of lecture per week
* Two field trips:
o one to the world famous Paris Air Show.
o one to the Basque country (Southwestern France at the Bay of Biscay) including technical visits to companies such as Dassault Aviation, Turbomeca and Socata.
* Technical visits to industrial aerospace and historical sites (Toulouse, Carcassonne ...)

4 intermediate written exams. "Culture/humanities" classes will be assessed through personal written report on the visits.

INSURANCE
Please enclose your proof of insurance covering medical, health and civil liability. This coverage must meet the immigration standards of the host institution and country.

HOUSING FORM
GEA provides you with accommodations during your whole stay in France from June 2nd to July 16th morning (check out time), 2009 at the different locations of the classes (Toulouse + Poitiers) and organized visits (Paris + Basque Country) at no extra cost (cost included in the program fee).

Would you decide to spend a weekend somewhere else, it would be under your responsibility to organize and at your own expense .

MEALS
Remember, breakfast and lunch are included during school days only. Dinners are not included and can be purchased at the school cafeterias at an inexpensive price. (Note: You are responsible for ALL your meals on the weekends).

PAYMENT
A 625€ deposit is required along with the completed application form.

Please submit your application (original copies only) along with the necessary attachments (photo, transcript, insurance card and 625 € deposit) by JANUARY 15, 2009 to be considered for the program.

The remaining balance of 1,875€ is due at the latest on the first official day of the program:

Friday, June 5, 2008.
Credit cards or cash are the only acceptable methods of payment for settling the balance of your account.
